Get to the Root: A Renewed Heart From the Inside Out

Sometimes we spend so much time treating what we can see that we never address what is happening beneath the surface.

We try to fix the attitude without addressing the hurt. We fight the anxiety without confronting the fear. We correct the behavior without asking what is happening in the heart. But God has never been interested in simply making us look better on the outside—He wants to heal us from the inside out.

Hebrews 12:15 warns us to be careful that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble. That word root is important. What eventually appears above the surface often began somewhere much deeper.

That is why David prayed:

“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” — Psalm 51:10

David wasn't asking God to simply change his circumstances. He was asking God to work on the root—the heart.

There Is Power in the Root

Think about beetroot. Much of the plant's value is developing beneath the soil where we cannot see it. Yet when that root is harvested, it provides nutrients and naturally occurring nitrates that can support healthy circulation and cardiovascular function. Research on nitrate-rich beetroot has also found that it may help support healthier systolic blood pressure.

What a beautiful picture of what God desires to do spiritually.

Healthy fruit begins with a healthy root.

We cannot continually cover spiritual wounds with temporary solutions and expect lasting transformation. Sometimes God has to take us beneath the surface—to the disappointment, unforgiveness, fear, pride, grief, rejection or habits we have buried—and begin His work there.

Proverbs 4:23 tells us:

“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”

Everything flows from the heart.

And God gives us this promise:

“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you.” — Ezekiel 36:26

That means your present condition does not have to be your permanent condition. God can renew the heart. He can uproot what has been poisoning your peace and plant something new in its place.

Nourish the Natural and the Spiritual

Just as we should care for our spiritual heart, we should be good stewards of our physical heart as well. Beetroot capsules can be an easy way to incorporate beetroot into a wellness routine, providing naturally occurring plant compounds associated with circulation and cardiovascular support.

But whether we are talking about our bodies or our spirits, the lesson remains the same:

Don't only treat what is showing. Get to the root.

Ask God to reveal what needs healing. Give Him permission to remove what does not belong. Feed your spirit with His Word, nourish your body wisely, and trust that transformation can begin in places nobody else can see.

Because when God renews the root, eventually the fruit will show.

Declaration:
Lord, create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. Reveal and uproot everything that is keeping me from becoming who You created me to be. I choose to care for my heart—spiritually and physically—and I believe that You are doing a new work in me from the inside out. In Jesus' name, Amen.
